IT'S A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGERS! October 5th
333 Years of Music!! On Saturday evening October 5th, the Jarvis Conservatory will present another unique program in its monthly series ITS A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGERS.
Opening with a song from English composer Henry Purcells historic opera DIDO AND ANEAS from 1683, the evening will continue with favorite arias and lieder by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn, Richard Wagner, Otto Nicolai, Amilcare Ponchielli, Jules Massenet and Engelbert Humperdinck (the one born in 1854, not the English pop singer). The program will conclude with 2 songs from Broadway musicals - Maury Yestons PHANTOM and Sara Bareilles WAITRESS THE MUSICAL. Outstanding singers this month will be Autumn Allee, Christa Durand, Alexandra Mena, Cheryl Moore, Brooke Michael Smith and Leah Torres.
Accordionist Sheri Mignano will provide musical entertainment before the program and during intermission. Music Director Richard B. Evans, who was named Statewide Outstanding Professor before retiring from the 23-campus California State University, will host the evening and accompany the singers on the grand piano in the lovely jewel-box Jarvis Conservatory proscenium theatre.
IT'S A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGERS continues the first Saturday of every month at 7pm at the Jarvis Conservatory located at 1711 Main Street in historic downtown Napa. Tickets are $20 and available at the box office beginning at 6pm, with doors opening for General Seating at 6:30pm.
