Presenters: Michael J. Murtaugh received his undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati (BA, with honors, 1970) and his law degree from the UCLA School of Law (JD, 1973), where he represented the school in the National Moot Court competition and was elected to the Order of the Barristers. His practice focuses on the counseling and representation of design professionals, employment counseling and general civil litigation; and he has received Martindale Hubbells highest AV Preeminent rating for ethics and competence.
Michelle R. Generaux received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame (BA, 1993) and law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law (JD, 1996), and her practice focuses is on the representation of privately held businesses, with an emphasis on architectural and engineering firms. She has extensive experience in entity selection and formation, contract drafting and negotiation, ownership transitions and mergers and acquisitions. She also practices in the areas of probate and trust administration.
Josiah G. Belden graduated with a BA degree in accounting and economics in 1973, and was licensed as a CPA shortly thereafter. Beginning his career, Joe worked in Los Angeles office of Lester Witte & Company, a national mid-sized C.P.A firm. He founded his own C.P.A firm in Northern California in 1978, where he provided a variety of tax and accounting services. After selling his practice in 1980, he relocated to Newport Beach, where he directed the small business department of Pannel Kerr Forster, another mid-sized national accounting firm. In 1982, he started a regional CPA practice that would eventually become BHL & Co., LLP, reflecting the addition of several new partners. Today, drawing on 38 years of consulting, accounting and tax planning experience, Joe leads BHL & Co., LLP in providing ownership transition, merger & acquisition, business valuation, statistical analyses, strategic planning and other consulting services to its specialty niche of architectural, engineering and planning companies. Joe is an Honorary Professional Allied member of the AIAOC.
