Bearing Witness
Bearing Witness is the story of five female journalists - photographer Molly Bingham, Times of London correspondents Marie Colvin and Janine DiGiovanni, CNN camerawoman Mary Rogers, and Al-Jazeera producer May Ying Welsh - who share their experiences from the front lines of the most recent Iraqi-American war. This documentary takes a wild ride through the lives of these fearless and intense women who sacrifice their personal lives to get the stories and the pictures of the people who are most affected by the war. This is a brutally graphic and honest video diary that exposes the trials, sacrifices and dangers experienced by female war reporters. Barbara Kopple is a two-time Academy Award winner who recently directed the narrative feature Havoc.
