REPO MAN (Party at the Parkway)
Join us for Party at the Parkway.
About Repo Man: Frustrated punk rocker Otto quits his supermarket job after slugging a co-worker, and is later dumped by his girlfriend at a party. Wandering the streets in frustration, he is recruited in the repossession of a car by a repo agent. After discovering his parents have donated his college fund to a televangelist, he joins the repossession agency (Helping Hand Acceptance Corporation) as an apprentice "repo man". During his training, he is introduced into the mercenary and paranoid world of the drivers, befriended by a UFO conspiracy theorist, confronted by rival repo agents, discovers some of his one-time friends have turned to a life of crime, is lectured to near cosmic unconsciousness by the repo agency grounds worker, and finds himself entangled in a web of intrigue concerning a huge repossession bounty on a 1964 Chevy Malibu driven by a lunatic government scientist, with Top Secret cargo in the trunk.
About Party at the Parkway: This showing is part of "Party at the Parkway". Party at the Parkway is a patron planned event where we celebrate one of our patrons (or a group of patrons), replete with a cake and singing, and we open it up to the public. So even if you don't know anything about the group, consider coming out to celebrate.
We'll be celebrating Evan Weissman's birthday, and here's what he has to say:
"It's my birthday! Seriously, what more do I need to say... I'm special, my birthday is special! But even better, Repo Man came out when I was a young punk in LA, and it pretty much defined my life. If it didn't teach me how to live, it at least gave me an excuse for how I lived, and a classic quote for every situation. So I'm gonna bring my friends, new and old, young and old, to learn those lines or speak along with them. And they're pretty nice friends. I made them myself."
Please note that this August film is part of Karma Cinema month and that 30% of your ticket purchase will go to local nonprofits that you help choose when you attend a screening in August.
