Jesse Sykes & Phil Wandscher of Jesse Sykes and The Sweet Hereafters

An enduring musical partnership beginning in Seattle and spanning more than a decade--Jesse Sykes and The Sweet Hereafter's core members are singer- songwriter Jesse Sykes and guitarist Phil Wandscher. Spin Magazine called 2011's release, Marble Son"a sprawling psych rock vision" and The New York Times has described their sound as "spellbound music, rapt in fatalism and sorrow." Whether the sonic setting is one of doomy distortion or fragile finger picking, Sykes remains a truly unique vocalist whose dusky voice is capable of imparting a transcendent, almost spiritual quality to almost any tune it touches" said All Music Guide.Sykes is also known for her collaborations--most notably her work on doom/noise purveyorsSunnO))) and Boris's album "Altar" (2006). Wandscher co-founded the infamous alt country band Whiskeytown with Ryan Adams in the mid 90's and since has also appeared on records by Marissa Nadler as well as the legendary Mekon's Jon Langford. The band has toured extensively in both the US and Europe and are in the process of recording their 5th full length album.
