Annie Jr, CenterStage's Tapestry Theatre, September 12-14, 2013
With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan ANNIE charms everyone's hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.
With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, ANNIE escapes to the wondrous and magical world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, ANNIE foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations and befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
CenterStage's Tapestry Theatre casts actors, ages 10-21, with special needs in lead roles, and peer mentor actors as understudies and support. Lead actors and ensemble members are partnered during the rehearsal and performance process. Tapestry Theatre provides actors with an opportunity to participate in theatre in an environment that is safe, welcoming, adaptive and inclusive This creates a community that encourages youth to experience diversity and forge long lasting friendships, culminating in a high quality musical production.
This theatre project generates a large following in those who wish to put people with disabilities in the forefront, utilizing their gifts to the fullest. Tapestry invites actors of all abilities to experience the joy of musical theatre.
