Resin Canvas Art with Donna Smit

Celebrate Day of the Dead with resident artist Donna Smit.
Donna will guide students through this workshop to create a sugar skull to hang in your home. This three hour class will entail a brief history of Dia de los Muertos(day of the dead) and the tradition of creating sugar skulls. Each student will paint a canvas with acrylic paint, and then begin with a mirror base cut out by the instructor. Students will layer with recycled glass, beads, rhinestones, shells, fused glass baubles, and jewelry. Resin will cover the entire skull. Students are encouraged to bring old jewelry pieces and suitable decorations to add to their skull. The finished piece will be approximately 8" x 10". All materials are provided. Preferred glass cutting experience but not required. The main emphasis will be detailing your art with baubles. Limited to 8 students.
