Synopsis: 1275 Days follows the case of Blake Layman and the Elkhart 4 in Indiana. Four teenage boys received 55 years for Felony Murder after a burglary went horribly wrong when the homeowner shot and killed one of the intruding boys. We follow this case from Blake's sentencing to his subsequent release 4 years later after his conviction is overturned by the Supreme Court of Indiana. It is an unlikely 'David and Goliath' story that not only sheds light on the juvenile justice system and this bizarre use of the Felony Murder law, but on the cost (both financial and emotional) for low income families who have a loved one incarcerated.
