Northwest Mahler Festival presents an evening of fine orchestral performance, featuring violin soloist: Hahn-Bin playing Saraste's "Carmen Fantasy". The concert will open with Respighi's "Belkis, Queen of Sheba." Crowning the program will be Gustav Mahler's deeply emotional song cycle for alto, tenor and large orchestra: "Das Lied von der Erde". Under the talented baton of Maestro Geoffrey Simon, the concert will be held at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Meany Hall on the University of Washington campus. General admission tickets are $18 ($15 for students and seniors) and are available at www.brownpapertickets.com, or by calling 1-800-838-3006. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Maestro Simon is enjoying his tenth season as principal conductor of The Festival. A native of

Simon has conducted major orchestras throughout the world, including the London Symphony, the
