Grant us Peace: Honoring our Veterans
Spokane Kantorei Choir, Festival Singers, and Collegium Orchestra present Grant Us Peace: Honoring Our Veterans " as part of the St. John's Music Series.
Pieces featured on this concert celebrate our Land of Liberty with songs of Americana, including Irving Berlins Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor and La Roccas arrangement of America the Beautiful. Musical settings of Letters from the Field bring alive texts by soldiers spanning from the Civil War to the Iraq War, including Lee Hoibys Last Letter Home. The concert culminates in a performance of Ralph Vaughan Williamss Dona nobis pacem (Grant us peace), composed between the two World Wars and which sets Walt Whitmans poetry with choir and orchestra. Featuring soloists Amy Porter (soprano) and Max Mendez (baritone), conducted by Timothy Westerhaus.
Free with military ID for veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces.
Doors will open 45 minutes prior to concert. Ticket prices will go up at the door.
