The Red Light Variety Show presents Imaginarium: Circus and Sideshow Oddities
A young vagabond wandering through the woods stumbles upon the wreckage of an abandoned circus caravan.The elephant carcasses have decayed, the medicine cart's contents soaked into the earth, a shriveled punk rests in the shattered glass of its jar. It is completely deserted: the clowns are gone, mermaids vanished, freaks have long since scurried into the darkness.The boy takes in the scene then puts a coin into the dilapidated box of the fortune teller.
The world of Imaginarium is unleashed; the flood gates open, the monstrosities pour out and the curious wonders set free. Has the side show been brought back to life, or has the boy merely entered the dark trenches of his own imagination?
Join the Red Light Variety Show as we explore the splendor of the weird and extraordinary powers of imagination seen through a sideshow lens.
Imaginarium plays at the Visual Arts Collective September 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, with a pay what you want preview September 12.
Cost is $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
