A Musical Double Feature
"A Day in Hollywood / A Night in the Ukraine" is a charming and unique Broadway musical. Essentially two one-act entertainments, the first act features the usher corps from Grauman's Chinese Theatre treating us to a song and tap dancing salute to the golden age of classic Hollywood films. They then prepare us for the latest coming attraction at the theatre, a ridiculous Marx Brothers farce, "A Night in the Ukraine." When we return from intermission, we discover that our usher corps have transformed into Groucho, Harpo, Chico and the gang, and as they say... "hilarity ensues."
Featuring Music by Frank Lazarus and Dick Vosburgh, Richard Whiting, and Jerry Herman (Hello, Dolly) this sparkling musical was honored with 5 Tony Awards!
