Bonfire at the Iron Furnaces
The 9th Annual Bonfire at the Iron Furnaces will take place Saturday, October 19, 2018, from 6:00 - 10 PM at the historic Scranton Iron Furnaces, a truly unique site with the remains of a standing blast furnace.
This year the Bonfire will highlight our local Polish heritage through a celebration of its people and traditions! The event will feature music by the John Stevens Polka Band and newcomer, the upbeat-dance-in-the-streets Alligator Boogaloo! The Crufeli Sideshow will mesmerize with death-defying fire performances. Enjoy face painting; balloon art; Tarot Card readings; and dance performances by Symmetry Studio! Stop by the Cultural Tent for fun hands-on activities sponsored by the Everhart Museum, Scranton Cultural Center, the Greenhouse Project at Nay Aug, and United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA. And you wont want to miss the ceremonial lighting of the Bonfire at 8:00 PM, featuring fire twirling by the Double R Twirlettes and the haunting bagpipes of the Greater Scranton Black Diamonds Pipe Band.
Enjoy delicious Polish fare by Yogis Potato Pancakes and and sweet treats by Sweet Lush Cupcakery and Country Girl Kettle Corn! Libations will include our special spiced cider, beer, and wine from our friends at Banko and Maiolatesi Wine Cellars. Hot beverages such as coffee and hot chocolate will be provided by UNICO.
Tickets include admission to the festival and $5 in Bonfire Bucks, to use towards food, beverage, and activities. Tickets are $25 (until the event sells out). As always, entrance to the festival is free for children 12 and under.
Also! This year marks the 2nd Annual Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum VIP Pavilion that has an amazing bird's eye view of the event! This heated area opens with early access at 5:45 p.m. and will include catering by Posh, beer, wine, spiked cider, a signature drink, and entertainment by The Dash Board Mary Duo, Coffee, desserts and a candy table! All for only $50! A limited number of tickets are available. (VIP tickets allow full access to the event.) 21 and Over
