Three major theatrical works by Lerner and Loewe, Henrik Ibsen, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe are brought together via their scores for this unique season opener by the Sammamish Symphony at the Meydenbauer Center Theatre in Bellevue.
The many fine tunes from Camelot, the Lerner and Loewe musical that featured Richard Burton and Julie Andrews in its first-ever cast, will be heard in the splendid orchestral medley assembled by Robert Russell Bennett.
Edvard Grieg's immortal music for Ibsen's Peer Gynt is represented by a suite climaxing in the ever-terrifying In the Hall of the Mountain King.
Finally, starting our year-long celebration of Ludwig van Beethoven's birth is incidental music for Goethe's Egmont, which is known almost exclusively by its rousing overture. The Sammamish Symphony presents a rare performance of Beethoven's complete score with narration and solo voice, with the respective talents of Terry Edward Moore and Laura Loge.
