Postpartum Psychosis - An Evening Clinical Discussion and Reading
This evening clinical meeting is an interactive presentation and discussion on postpartum psychosis. We will cover identification, treatment, and prevention. Discuss strategies to support partners and families, as well as share resources available for both the mother and family. The evening will include a short reading by Sarah Townsend, author of Setting the Wire: A Memoir of Postpartum Psychosis.

OBJECTIVES: *Identify risk factors for postpartum psychosis. *Identify common symptoms of postpartum psychosis and understand differential diagnoses related to other perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. *Identify 1-3 clinical interventions to use while assessing and treating individuals with active postpartum psychosis. *Be knowledgable about resouces and supports for partners and families.

Perinatal Support Washington is a state-wide non-profit dedicated to shining a light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Veronika Zantop, MD is a psychiatric hospitalist and medical director of Women's Wellness and the Center for Perinatal Bonding and Support at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. She graduated from the University of California San Francisco and completed a residency in Family Medicine followed by a residency in psychiatry at the University of Washington. She has given lectures on Perinatal Health for physicians, nurses, doulas and residents at Swedish as well as various perinatal conferences.
Laurie Ganberg, LICSW obtained her MSW from Smith College in 2006 and has had the privilege of working with women and families in their homes, medical settings, community agencies, and private practice. She joined the Swedish Center for Perinatal Bonding and Supports Day Program, a perinatal partial hospitalization program in Seattle, when it opened in 2016 and is currently the lead therapist there. Laurie also facilitates trainings for multidisciplinary professionals in perinatal mental health.
Sarah Townsend is the author of Setting the Wire: A Memoir of Postpartum Psychosis (The Lettered Streets Press, 2019). Her essays have appeared in The Writer in the World and Pitkin Review, and a coauthored paper with Elisabeth Young-Bruehl serves as a chapter in Subject to Biography: Psychoanalysis, Feminism, and Writing Womens Lives. Sarah received her MFA in creative writing from Goddard College, her MA in counseling psychology from Northwestern University, and is a graduate of the College of Letters at Wesleyan University. Setting the Wire has been featured on Beyond Well with Sheila Hamilton, The Ish with Cameron Dezen Hammon, and in the Chicago Review of Books. Sarah writes and teaches in and around Seattle, WA.
