Pachelbel - More than the Canon
La Follia performs music by Johann Pachelbel, composer of the famous Canon in D major.
Included are three exquisite chamber works, two works for solo voice, a motet, a full cantata, and an organ work on the church's magnificent Visser Roland pipe organ.
And of course, the Canon!
Performing are Meredith Ruduski and Joan Carlson, sopranos, Robbie LaBanca, countertenor, Steven Brennflick, tenor, tenor, Curt Vaughan, bass; and Keith Womer, organ and harpsichord. They are joined by a ten-piece Baroque orchestra led by concertmaster Alan Austin.
KMFA Classical 89.5 will provide commentary during the concert.
About La Follia:
La Follia was founded in 1980, making it one of the oldest chamber ensembles of any kind in Austin. Among its numerous awards are three concerts cited as one of ten best classical music events of the year, as well as the 2016 Austin Critics Table award for overall Ensemble Performance.
