FGI Private SAM Tour with Curator Catharina Manchan + Fran's Chocolate Tasting
GET YOUR TICKETS FAST! This event will only allow 30 attendees. Join FGI Seattle for a Chocolate Tasting at Fran's Chocolate prior to a private tour of the Seattle Art Museum's 30 Years of Japanese Fashion.
There will be a chocolate tasting and pairing with champagne after the tour at Fran's Chocolates in the Four Seasons Hotel across the street from SAM.
Fran will also have a special gift for each attendee, plus they will offer a 10% discount on all retail in the shop that night.
The tremendous innovation of Japanese fashion designers who have revolutionized the way we think of fashion today is the focus of this special exhibition, the first of its kind presented at SAM. With nearly 100 garments, ranging from classic and elegant to outrageous, an exhilarating experience awaits viewers.
The timeline: 6:00 PM - all attendees meet in the SAM lobby under the hanging cars, just up the steps from the 1st and Union Street entrance
6:15 PM - private tour starts with the SAM curator - Catharina Manchanda
7:15 PM - 8:15 PM - Meet at the entrance inside the Four Seasons Hotel for Fran's Chocolate tasting and pairing with champagne.
Catharina Manchanda is Seattle Art Museum's Jon and Mary Shirley Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art. Catharina joined SAM in August 2011, as the former Senior Curator of Exhibitions at the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to her work at the Wexner, she worked in curatorial positions at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, St. Louis, Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She has won a number of prestigious international awards including an Andy Warhol Foundation grant, the John R. Rewald Dissertation Fellowship, and a German Academic. Exchange Scholarship among others.Originally from Stuttgart, Germany, Manchanda has a B.A. in art history, English and German from the University of Stuttgart in Germany (1990) and earned her M.A. in art history from the University of Delaware (1993) and Ph.D. in art history from the City University of New York (2005), where she wrote her dissertation on photography in 1960's and 70's German art.
