Age of Pain(e)
Age of Pain(e) - an evening of enlightenment produced by concrete timbre & d'moiselles in conjunction with the Old Stone House 2013 Battle of Brooklyn commemoration.
Hear the words of the July 1776 Declaration of Independence. A month later, the first major and largest battle in the war for independence took place in Brooklyn. A multimedia reading by Coran Newland and visuals by Robert Morton.
In 1885, England made a new translation of the bible. The word HELL was removed and replaced by the word SHEOL. All of a sudden Thomas Paine was in very different company depicted in Mavericks in Sheol composed by Ann Warren, performed by Aleksandra Milowiec, visuals by Robert Morton.
And Thomas Paine as you've never seen him before. English by birth, American by adoption, and French by decree. This revolutionary has some stories to tell in a concert version of the new play by Dorothy Fennell, with songs by Manuela Lechler, directed by Patrice Miller. Performed by: David A. Green, James Hamblin, and Christopher Poeschl. Music performed by Kyoko Oyobe and Aleksandra Miglowiec.
and a special presentation of a jazz piano composition by Kyoko Oyobe.
presenters: concrete timbre & d'moiselles (founded 1999) presents, creates, and produces live contemporary music in multidisciplinary events that integrate artists and machines using the power of theatrical tools: the vigorous use of text, heightened perspectives on reality, robust images, compelling sound, and resonant designs to tell stories with universal themes and international contexts. We strive to invigorate artists and audiences with subjects that are often overlooked, unusual, nontraditional, not conventional, or disregarded. In addition, we aim to facilitate the sharing of international cultural perspectives through interaction and collaboration with foreign artists incorporating our different languages, customs, traditions, education, and experiences as well as present American cultural perspectives to international audiences. Over the years we have provided a community of new and experienced artists engaged to promote the creativity and vision of women working in the performing arts by providing a culture where women can initiate projects, take risks, experiment, develop, collaborate, and produce with other professionals in an atmosphere of understanding and integrity. www.concretetimbre.com
