March 18-April 10 ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST By Ken Kesey, Dale Wasserman Directed by Miguel Reyna Boisterous, ribald and ultimately shattering, this is the unforgettable story of a mental hospital and its inhabitants. In a world where sanity means conformity and following the rules is the only way to survive, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST is a powerful exploration of both the beauty and the danger of being your own unique self. This Tony-award winning adaption by Dale Wasserman pays homage to the original storytelling of the classic novel by Ken Kesey, while adding a chilling, poignant edge that has captivated and enthralled audiences.
May 20-June 12 CALENDAR GIRLS by Tim Firth Directed by Hannah Eckstein When Annies husband John dies of cancer, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. With help from other women in their British womens club, (who are also of a more advanced age) they decide to pose nude and publish a calendar with the photos in order to raise funds. The news of the womens charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The play is based on a true story and is both poignant and filled with sweet, good-natured British comedy that is sure to make you roar with laughter!
August 12-14 New Works Weekend directed by Peter Gelblum A new work from a local playwright, presented as a staged reading, with the audience invited to provide feedback to help the playwright develop the show.
September 23 - October 23 THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM Book & Lyrics by Alfred Uhry Music by Robert Waldman Directed by W. Scott Whisler Set in eighteenth-century Mississippi, The Robber Bridegroom is a Southern fairy tale about a charming gentleman bandit, the rich plantation owners daughter he loves, the wicked stepmother who wants her dead, and an evil thief who carries his brothers talking head around in a trunk. In this backwoods fairy tale of young love and ageless deceit, no one is really who they pretend to be. This unique musicaltheatre production features Bluegrass music performed on stage by a live band.
November 25 December 18 NOW AND THEN by Sean Grennan Directed by Kathie Kratochvil What if we had information about what our life was going to look like in 40 years, and found that the simple and seemingly ordinary decisions we make now could have a profound effect on our lifes tapestry? Would we go about things differently? Set in an Irish bar in New York City in 1981, the play explores our notions of love, following your dreams (or not) and the costs of the decisions we make. It is heart-warming romance, drama, and comedy rolled into a compelling story about the interplay of the past and present.
