Chris Greene Quartet - Jazz in Los Ranchos
The Chris Greene Quartet will play a special fundraising concert in Los Ranchos, New Mexico, to support the "Music in Schools" service of the Corrales Cultural Arts Council. This is a different concert, occurring a day earlier than the concert in Corrales on Oct. 20, which is sold out.
The Quartet consists of Chris Greene on saxophones; Damian Espinosa on piano and keyboards; Marc Piane, bass; and Steve Corley on drums. The group is unique among Chicago jazz bands in that they have had the same players since their inception in 2005 (except for the new guy Corley who joined in 2011).
As a result, the Quartet has been able to develop a true group sound and feel. Indeed, the group harkens back to bands from the classic age of jazz when groups could stay together for long periods of time. While honoring the tradition, the CGQ incorporates elements of funk, hip-hop, rock, pop, the blues and reggae, reflecting their diverse backgrounds.
Now in their 14th year, the CGQ continues to demonstrate a delightful exuberance that, together with their evolving artistic maturity, makes their work stimulating and highly enjoyable. No matter the setting, the Quartet always showcase their superb and sophisticated musicianship for a gratifying listening experience.
