Mahmood Schricker & Made Up Band: Experimental Link Music Night 3
The debut of a group formed specifically for this concert sees three of Toronto's finest pooling their musical forces together: Mahmood Schricker (electric setar), Demetrios Petsalakis (oud), Naghmeh Farahmand (tombak and percussion) .
Nima Dehghani joins them for a night of visuals inspired by the traditional Persian music to create a different interpretation of an ancient tradition. This is a continuation of the previous tour El Muerte that explored the concept of death; on this tour, however, they play around the notion of birth or existence.
Maks Chupov starts the evening with a very unique ambient music to set the mood for Persian meditative sounds of Mahmood Schricker's setar. Kami of Klubs also joins the night with his groovy mix of dancey tunes.
Link Music Lab, Toronto's premier presenter of contemporary Persian music, explores connections between identity, culture and musical creation with a new series contemplating the contemporary Persian-Canadian experience. Persian classical/traditional/folk music is re-explored and re-imagined. The goal of these sessions is to create a magic special to Toronto.
Experimental Link Music nights is possible by the generous support of Mina Rafiei and Toronto Arts Council.
