2008-09-27 Kissing Cousins
Resigned bachelor Amir (Samrat Chakrabarti) works as a relationship termination specialist in Los Angeles, professionally handling the breakups for those people who cannot handle it themselves. As one of the last of his friends not coupled with a significant other, he finds himself alone on Thanksgiving and decides to spend it with his family, who are housing several unusual characters. There, Amir runs into his British cousin, Zara (Rebecca Hazlewood), who he hasnt seen for twenty years. Persuaded by family to spend some time with Amir, Zara accompanies him back to L.A. where, in jest, she convinces his friends that she is his girlfriend. What starts as an extended practical joke, becomes increasingly complex as the new couple goes to crazy lengths to keep up their charade. As Amir spends more time with Zara, things become much more complicated as he believes that he may have developed true feelings for his cousin.
Director Amyn Kaderali not only delivers a charming romantic comedy that circumvents standard conventions, he tells the lighthearted story of a single man at an unexpected crossroads in his life.
