Globalfest Africa
Join us for our annual gala that will highlight the growing consumers support for products that guarantee social benefits to workers and save the environment. Globalfest Africa will feature the stories of fair trade producers from Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda and the products they supply to us everyday, from artisan products to chocolate to gold and wine! Hear their stories while enjoying fair trade wine from the new House of Mandela collection, appetizers and a silent auction.
Fair trade is a world-wide movement aimed toward reducing poverty by providing farmers and artisans in developing countries a fair wage for their work. Chicago Fair Trade brought global recognition to Chicago by working to achieve fair trade town status in May, 2011. Chicago is the second largest fair trade city in the U.S.
