Yule Tide Concert
An annual concert of maritime songs, seasonal songs, and holiday songs (the tides, the yule Yule Tide. Dont worry, our music is better than our jokes). Enjoy performances by some of the Northwests finest musicians, including Alex Sturbaum, TLC, and The Whateverly Brothers, all in the beautiful atmosphere of this 1907 church.
Hosted by The Whateverly Brothers and Maritime Folknet, and supported in part by an award from 4Culture.
(Refreshments and a gift bazaar during intermission)
PERFORMERS: -- Alex Sturbaum. A one-of-a-kind performer and songwriter, steeped in musical traditions from both sides of the Atlantic! Alex sings shanties, plays bluegrass, and writes amazing songs that youd swear are a hundred years old. Old ballads, contra dance tunes Irish, Scottish, Canadian, and more, His love for the music and joy in playing it is evident in every note he plays.
-- TLSea. Multi-instrumental, full bore harmony, mostly maritime band. Backed by members of Emerald Fire, leader Lara Clark evokes the spirit of her mother, Teresa Morgan and family band The Cutters. They were a hit at the Maritime Music Showcase at this years NW Folklife Festival. TLSea embraces the ruckus of a good shanty as well as ballads of lost love with haunting harmonies. TLSea features Lara Clark on lead vocals, Kelley Kenison on Acoustic Guitar & vocals, Pamela Burdwell on Mandolin, Recorder, & vocals, and Deanna Kenison on Bass Guitar & vocals.
-- The Whateverly Brothers. Wit and humor along with great vocal harmonies and skilled instrumental arrangements mean you can laugh while you enjoy the music.
