Generations of Adam
Generations of Adam is an immersive performance installation, conceived and produced by Artstillery for performance October 4th - November 16th, 2019. Our installations include original narratives from community members, 13 performers in a warehouse space, projection mapping, puppets, sound design & pre-recorded video scenes all combined to tell a story of institutional trauma and healing from the perspective of three families.
You are welcome to sit, walk around, take photos, post to instagram/facebook/snapchat, purchase drinks and take in the work we have created when you join us during our performance run.
The performance has been created using Artstillerys unique method of generative research, development and mind mapping.
The artistic team has researched through - *Interviews with community members and documentation of their stories regarding abuse and trauma *Four sessions of intensive embodied movement therapy modules with groups of 10-20 participants lead by our partner Mindfully Embodied Yoga + Wellness *Group communication gatherings where open and intentional conversations have occurred regarding individual accounts of institutional trauma *Consultations with Lovers Lane United Methodist Church Reverends and community members *Healing Trauma Through Expressive Arts event - one intensive evening on July 22, 2019 with the Ross Institute of Trauma lead by Mindfully Embodied Yoga + Wellness, where scenes from Generations of Adam were shared with audience members and five therapists on panel. This lead to insightful and honest conversations between performers, writers, therapists and audience members

This production looks at the domestic, spiritual, and political structures that exist to create and maintain control of environments where abuse occurs. Beyond these structural institutions of abuse, the concepts of victimization, shame cycles, the meaning of the term patriarchy, and how those things participate in the perpetuation of those power structures.
Come join us at Generations of Adam at 723 Fort Worth Avenue, in West Dallas, opening October 4th, 2019.
