Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll with Liz Shakespeare | The Postman Poet: The Life and Songs of Edward Capern
This collaboration between folk musicians Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll and author Liz Shakespeare follows in the steps of Edward Capern, the Victorian Postman Poet of Bideford, North Devon. Even though his work was widely published, and he was awarded a civil list pension by Prime Minister Lord Palmerston, he continued his rounds to Appledore and Westleigh until his retirement.
Weaving music and song based on the original poems from Nick & Beckis latest album with anecdotes of Caperns life and extracts from Lizs novel about the poet, the show will captivate, inform and entertain you with tales of North Devon two centuries ago.
