Grand Opening of Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health Great Lakes Hub
Dr. Melissa Walls (Bois Forte and Couchiching First Nation Anishinaabe) joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and will direct a new Great Lakes Hub for the Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health, which has partnered with Native American communities across the nation for nearly four decades to improve health and well-being.
The Center's new hub, based in Duluth, MN, will build upon Dr. Walls's partnerships with hundreds of tribal members across 11 Ojibwe Bands. This collaboration will advance leading-edge research projects focusing on the etiology, consequences, and preventive interventions for diabetes, substance use, mental disorders, and physical health issues.
Please join us to meet Dr. Walls and her team and hear more about current and future programs serving Native communities across the Great Lakes region.
