LAI August Tour
The Transbay Joint Powers Agency has graciously invited LAI Golden Gate members on a first-hand tour of San Francisco's largest construction project - the Transbay Transit Center. Described as the "Grand Central Terminal of the West," the $4.5 billion project will create the nation's first modern multi-modal transit hub, connecting eight Bay Area counties and the State of California through 11 transit systems. When complete, the five-story, LEED Gold structure will serve 100,000 bus and rail passengers per day, accommodate the future California High Speed Rail, and support a five acre rooftop park. The tour will take members down into the 65-foot deep excavation site for a unique opportunity to see history as it is being made.
Please Note - the tour begins at 2:00 pm. Lunch will not be provided. The cost of the tour is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. This tour has a 40-person maximum, so there is a limit of one guest per member. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so please RSVP promptly if you wish to attend. Your spot is not confirmed until payment has been received.
For safety reasons, each attendee will be provided with a hardhat, vest, and safety glasses.
***IMPORTANT*** Participants must wear appropriate hard-toed, hard-soled footwear such as hiking or work boots to access the construction site.
