LADIES OF THE KNIGHT - POETRY OVERTURNED
4 women, 4 poets, 4 voices.   This talented and diverse group of poets aim to overturn the stereotypical image of  poetry.  After a successful 6 venue tour this spring, Ladies of the Knight have honed their material to present a full length staged performance. They will be joined by two local musicians to round out the performance.

A reception  at 7:00 pm will precede the performance and is included in the ticket price.

Carol Lynn Stevenson Grellas is a narrative-lyric poet and author of seven full length  collections of poetry.  Her 2018 book, Before I go to Sleep won the Red Ochre chapbook contest in 2012. In 2018 she won second place in the Jack Kerouac Poetry competition. Carol Lynn is the editor of  the Orchards Poetry Journal and a board member of Sacramento Poetry Center.

Angela James, is a storyteller poet steeped in the oral tradition of her family in the Caribbean.  Her eclectic blend of stories, poems, music and dance appeal to a wide range of audiences. She features at a range of poetry and storytelling events in  Northern California. Angela is a registered multi disciplined teaching artist.

Jeanette Sem is a spoken word poet and social activist.  She is the winner of several slam contests and recently competed  with the Sac Unified Slam team in Chicago. Some of her work can be heard  on the background tracts of Truth Ali's album, Resurrection. Jeanette's poems highlight awareness of social justice issues - locally and nationally.

Grace Loescher is  a poet and community organizer. A poetry powerhouse, her material ranges from lyric poems to strident spoken word. Grace is the founder and host of Speak Out!
