Fresno Free College Foundation 2019 Annual Banquet with Greg Palast
Fresno Free College Foundation and KFCF 88.1 FM invite you to our Annual Banquet with special guest speaker Greg Palast, author of "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. (dinner at 7 p.m.) at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church 2226 Ventura Ave.-- (diagonal across from Selland Arena) a wheelchair accessible venue in downtown Fresno
Greg Palast has been called the *most important investigative reporter of our time * up there with Woodward and Bernstein* (The Guardian). In September 2016, Palast released his movie, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy: A Tale of Billionaires & Ballot Bandits, based on his New York Times bestselling books, predicting Donald Trump*s election. The film continues to be shown all around the US as well as being used by grassroots activists as an organizing tool to fight voter suppression. The updated, post-election edition of the film, now titled The Best Democracy Money Can Buy: The Case of the Stolen Election, was released in November 2017. Palast is also the author of the New York Times bestsellers Billionaires & Ballot Bandits, Armed Madhouse, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy and the highly acclaimed Vultures* Picnic, named Book of the Year 2012 on BBC Newsnight Review. Palast is known for complex undercover investigations, spanning five continents, from the Arctic to the Amazon, from Caracas to California, using the skills he learned over two decades as a top investigator of corporate fraud. Among his front-page, top-of-the-news award winning stories: Uncovered the theft of the 2000 US presidential election in Florida, exposed the financial vultures attacking Argentina, Congo and other nations resulting in changes of laws across the globe, told the hidden story of BP*s Deepwater Horizon blow-out, the Bush Administration*s secret pre-invasion plans for the oil fields of Iraq, the US involvement in the attempted coup d'état against Hugo Chavez, and the undercover expose of Enron's purchase of British government favors. The Association of Mexican Journalists has awarded Greg Palast their 2019 prize for International Reporter for his expose on the theft of elections from Georgia to Mexico and his reporting from Venezuela.
