Dave Whitney Orchestra
Trumpeter/Vocalist Dave Whitney has been leading jazz groups in New England since 1971. As a trumpeter, Dave is influenced by the great artists Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke and Bobby Hackett. His singing style owes a lot to Armstrong and Louis Primi with touches of Frank Sinatra and Perry Como. He has been hailed as "Dean of Swing Trumpet" and "Premier Early Style Trumpeter" of New England.
The Dave Whitney Orchestra was formed in 1989 and is dedicated to preserving the sounds of the great swing bands of the '30s and '40s such as Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington. The band also features other top orchestras such as Eddie Howard, Gene Krupa, Jimmie Lunceford, and Harry James.
