Benefit Dinner for Anthony Ray Hinton
Come join us for a special evening at Malone's Grille with our honored guest, Anthony Ray Hinton. Ray was sentenced to die and spent 30 years on death row for a crime he did not commit. The state of Alabama has offered him no reparations. All proceeds from the dinner will benefit Ray. Learn more about Ray's remarkable story and his embodiment of love and forgiveness in the face of the unimaginable. Interview clip with Oprah here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaTpwqPrS0s
Ray's book "The Sun Does Shine" (with co-author and Santa Cruz local, Lara Love Hardin) recounts Ray's incredible story and was just shortlisted for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. It's also a New York Times Bestseller, Oprah Book Club Pick, Christopher Award Winner, and NAACP Image Award nominee. Bring your copy and Ray will sign it for you. Dinner will be a buffet BBQ with sides, dessert, and beverage (nonalcoholic, wine, or beer) included. Vegetarian options available. Children are welcome, but all children age 5 and up must have a ticket.
