Seattle Butoh Festival 2019
DAIPAN proudly presents Natsu Nakajima for the first time in Seattle. Having studied with founder Tatsumi Hijikata, Natsu is a legacy of the 1960s butoh movement in Tokyo and is one of its foremost pioneers abroad. Well-known for her books on butoh, Zen and phenomenology, Sondra Horton Fraleigh writes about her experience in Natsus workshop. The filling the body with breath was not an expansion of energy and persona, but more dawning of being like the gathering of moonlight on water.
