Big Gay Dance Party Vol. 8: A Night at the Stonewall Inn
Kickoff Memphis Pride Fest with a Big Gay Dance Party that's bringing New York City direct to your doorstep!
In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, we are taking you to the heart of the Big Apple, where "Love and Liberty" live forever. Your entrance into Minglewood Hall will be through the historic doors where the riots first began ... That's right, we're rebuilding the façade of the historic Stonewall Inn right here in Memphis! DJ A.D. is your Stonewall deejay at this iconic New York gay bar, rebuilt just for you. For one night only, swap Memphis for Manhattan as we come together to remember how celebrations of Love and Liberty first began!
Step off bohemian Christopher Street and onto our glittering Midtown dance floor, where you'll find yourself immersed in New York City nightlife, with video sweeps of Greenwich Village merging into Downtown Manhattan. The Studio 54 VIP Room, staffed by a bevy of beauties from Memphis Burlesque Productions, will host a "Pose-Meets-Paris-Is-Burning" Ballroom Dance-Off, with $500 in cash going to one lucky "Vogue-er" at our midnight runway show. Outside Studio 54, you can sample the signature flavors of the city: corned beef at our Downtown Delicatessen, kebabs at our Greek Taverna, and a little slice of heaven at our Italian Pizzeria. Throughout the night, dance with our Lady Liberties (of all Pride varieties) as the aerialists of QCG Productions play among the skyscrapers of the big city. For an extra special VIP experience, you can also retreat uptown to the Empire State Suite, with it's open bar and Heavenly Angels high above the dance floor.
This event is 18+ with tickets starting at just $20 at the door. Dress in your best Pride attire, or go all-in with the hippie chic of 1969 or the glam and glitz of New York in the '80s. This event is produced by Friends For Life Corporation in partnership with Mid-South Pride, the perfect start to an exciting weekend of Pride activities all over town.
