Tim Gearan Trio
Known for his guttural voice that bears a captivating, rustic quality (The Northeast Performer) Tim Gearan was raised in New York, yet is lovingly claimed by the legendary Boston music community, where he has been playing music for over 25 years.
Gearan is regularly sought after by countless musicians for his uninhibited, soulful guitar playing, creative soaring abilities and song writing collaborations. Gearan continues to collaborate with an amazement of artists in Boston and beyond.
After 10 years of touring nationally and abroad as a sideman guitarist for Toni Lynn Washington, Gearan began focusing on his song writing, and has been performing his own music with a remarkable band of Boston MVPs since then.
To say Gearans fans are loyal and adoring is an understatement; his cast of ever expanding and long-time followers show their devotion by showing up to his weekly residencies week after week. "Tims songs are near enough to the source of things that any player wants to get near them, it's like a watering hole, just a natural phenomenon; it's where the critters gather." (songwriter/collaborator, Peter Mulvey)
And gather they do. Music lovers and Bostons most prestigious musicians have packed Gearans weekly residency at Atwoods Tavern, a musician-favorite venue in Cambridge, Friday after Friday for 12 years. For 11 years before that, he packed a Monday night residency at the famed Toad in Cambridge.
Tim currently plays a duo song swap with Christian McNeill on Tuesdays at Sally OBriens in Somerville, which will last until McNeills departure from Boston in November, 2019 which is quickly becoming another local favorite hang. Nate Dow calls it Pure listening gold in his blog review: https://asheardhere.com/2019/03/13/tim-gearan-christian-mcneill-residency-pure-listening-gold/
On the 2nd Thursdays of every month, Tim plays with Scott Aruda on trumpet, and Lou Ulrich on bass, at Chianti in Beverly, MA. Gearan can also be seen playing blues guitar with Dennis Brennan and The White Owls on Blue Mondays at Toad in Cambridge. One can easily see why he has been dubbed the "Residency King of The Hub."
Tim released his latest album I Thought You Were Somebody Else in June,2019. Somewhere between firmly rooted, literate rock, and dreamscapes for a long drive on a hot summer day, this record will at once remind you who you are, and make you forget where you are going.. I Thought You Were Somebody Else is available on iTunes, Amazon and where ever you buy music. You can find Gearan's entire discography at www.CDBaby.com.
