Chris Velan / Juliana & Jesse - Troubadour NDG
Montreal singer-songwriter and producer, Chris Velan, has always been crossing borders with his brand of world music- influenced, singer-songwriter pop. Drawing comparisons to the smart, genre-mixing writing of Neil Finn, Nick Lowe and Paul Simon, come discover Velan's latest album, Amateur Hour.
------------------------------ Juliana & Jesse are a brother-sister duo based in Montreal, Canada. Juliana, with a smooth voice and a steady pen, began a solo career as an acoustic singer-songwriter in early 2013. At the tender age of 13, Jesse was already taking Montreals rock scene by storm, playing lead guitar and fronting his own outfit. Raised in a Canadian-Brazilian family, between Montreal and Latin America, the duo eventually teamed up to create a rich sound that is roots-based, infused with singer-songwriter, pop, and world beat rhythms. Since performing as contestants on the Canadian talent show La Voix (The Voice) in 2016, Juliana & Jesse have been featured and interviewed on numerous radio stations, including CHOM 97.7 FM and CJAD 800AM. In their first 3 years, Juliana & Jesse have played over 400 shows. In the fall of 2017, they performed at the MUZ showcase in Montreal, taking home 3 peoples choice awards. The duo also wrapped up a 16-date tour of Italy in March 2018.
The deluxe version of their debut album, In Time, All Things, marks a coming of age of their project. It is a collection of songs that varies in genre and mood, from light-hearted and carefree to thoughtful, introspective. Juliana & Jesse travelled to Vancouver, BC to record the album at The Red House studio with Juno Award nominee, producer Sid Perez. Borza Ghomeshi (Mayk Music) mastered the record. The repackaged and remastered deluxe edition features 3 bonus tracks in French, including interpretations of 2 francophone classics, from Francis Cabrel and Beau Dommage. In Time, All Things reflects the duos acoustic sound, carried by catchy melodies and a full band's infectious groove. The album's messages draw from a full spectrum of experiences : good and bad. In doing so, the duo resonates a message of harmony, embracing both positivity and hardship. Sit back and enjoy the ride because in time, all things do find their place.
