The Go Janes with Storyteller Auntmama in "Story to Song to Story"
Seattle's harmony trio The Go Janes and Storyteller Auntmama come together for a night of music and stories at Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater.
A delightful and soul-stirring mix of original songs by the Go Janes and stories by MaryAnne Moorman (aka Auntmama). The four women have performed this collaborative effort for the Seattle Folklore Society (December, 2018), and at Seattle Folklife (May, 2019), and they continue to develop the myriad ways songs suggest stories, and stories lead to songs. Auntmama digs deep into her Blue Mountain roots straddling the line between darkness and light, with eloquence and humor. The Go Janes' original songs -- featuring harp-like ukes, and sweetly beautiful vocal and instrumental arrangements -- connect to the stories in unusual ways, taking a side angle or a twist in a related direction. The stories enhance the songs; the songs the stories.
