Crying Uncle and The Town Howlers
Evenings of Cultural Arts presents Crying Uncle and The Town Howlers. This evening of bluegrass music is brought to you by the City of Sunnyvale.
CRYING UNCLE was founded in 2016 by Quale brothers Miles (age 15, fiddle and vocals) and Teo (age 12, mandolin and vocals). The brothers, who are State and National fiddle and mandolin champions, have been featured on KQEDs The California Report, performed at venues such as IBMAs World of Bluegrass Festival and CBAs Father's Day Bluegrass Festival. The band also features Andrew Osborn (age 16, bass and vocals) and John Gooding (age 16, guitar and vocals).
THE TOWN HOWLERS play traditional bluegrass music and are influenced by the great singers and pickers from the golden era of bluegrass, such as Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, Vern Williams, and Jimmy Martin. With flashy picking, tight harmony singing, and original as well as traditional songs, the Town Howlers show a deference to traditional bluegrass while also adding their own style and sound. The band features: John McKelvy (guitar and vocals), Michael Small (banjo and vocals), Rowan McCallister (mandolin & vocals), Matt Crimp (fiddle and vocals) and James Touzel (upright bass).
