Our Town
Winner of the 1938 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, "Our Town" has been described by Edward Albee as the greatest American play ever written. Written by Thornton Wilder, "Our Town" is set during the years 1901-1913, and tells of life in the small town of Grovers Corners, New Hampshire in three acts: Daily Life, Love and Marriage, and Death and Eternity. Narrated by a stage manager and uniquely performed with minimal props and sets, "Our Town" follows the Webb and Gibb families as their children fall in love, marry, and eventuallyin one of the most famous scenes in American theatredie. There is good reason why this play has been ranked as one of the top 10 most produced high school plays in the country every year for over 70 years. The New York Post calls it one of the sagest, warmest and most deeply human scripts to have come out of our theatre.
