Freedom to Fail
The aim of this workshop is to give actors the opportunity to develop their ability to risk and reap the many rewards that come with doing so in performance. We will go through a three-class progression (of which students may choose to attend all, or just one or two). First, we will work to help the artist integrate their body with their expressive impulses. In the second class, we will develop the artist's sense of spontaneous play and living moment-to-moment onstage. Finally, we will venture into the world of clown, where failure is not only a necessity but a source of discovery and delight.
This class is for actors, performance artists, dancers, musicians, comedians, and anyone else who is curious to explore the craft of performance. It will be somewhat physically active, although the work will be scaled to the individual students' abilities. All are invited to sign up and join. Tuition is $25 per class.
