WW/MKP Cultural Competency Training
Western North Carolina WW and MKP leadership are excited to co-coordinate this event, to include checking in, grounding, and connecting, followed by a cultural competency training offered by local non-profit Tranzmission. The final hour will be a meet and eat (bring your brown bag lunch) with sharing of learnings, challenges, and blessings. It is our hope that this training will help us to create a safer, more inclusive community for transgender and nonbinary people, so that all can ultimately benefit from the deep work we do together. Tranzmissions Trans 101 training is led by its program directors and includes guidance regarding terminology, correct pronoun usage, and allyship, with a Q & A session. Trainings help to ensure that no questions are left unanswered, and that nonbinary and transgender people are seen as real human beings as opposed to theoretical abstractions and what if? scenarios. An intersectional lens is used, speaking to overlapping identities and lived experiences and creating a compassionate space that conveys that information. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided. Bring your own brown bag lunch. Come enjoy this autumn morning at beautiful Tiggs Pond in Zirconia, NC, complete with indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. Carpooling is encouraged. ***Event is open to WW and MKP participants and their guests.*** Space is limited -- registration is required.
