Live at Studio5: REGGIE THOMAS TRIO
Reggie Thomas, piano Dennis Carroll, bass George Fludas, drums
One night recently at Studio5, Dennis Carroll and George Fludas told me I should check out a pianist they were working with named Reggie Thomas. When musicians like that sing someone's praises, it is wise to pay attention. I looked him up online and was blown away. You can see for yourself in the video below. I am thrilled to welcome Reggie (with Dennis and George) to Studio5. Reggie Thomas is coordinator of the internationally recognized Northern Illinois University School of Music's Jazz Studies program. He has performed internationally in Canada, Italy, Poland, Senegal, and England, and his recordings include work with Clay Jenkins, Kim Richmond, Clark Terry, and Mike Vax. Thomas is co-author with Wynton Marsalis and others on the important jazz teachers' resource "Teaching Music through Performance in Jazz". And on October 4th well all get to hear him in person. I can't wait.
Join us. We'll be recording this performance for Chicago Jazz Live on WDCB, so you'll be part of the studio audience!
Cash bar, light snacks, free parking right outside. Doors open for cocktails at 7:30.
[NOTE: ONLINE TICKET SALES END ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THIS EVENT. REMAINING TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR.]
