Malachy McCourt and Peter Gerety: Story and Song in the Best Irish Tradition
Tompkins Corners Cultural Center will present Malachy McCourt and Peter Gerety in a celebration of Malachy's latest book, "Death Need Not be Fatal" (Center Street Press). These two longtime friends and fellow actors will sing and reminisce about their careers and some of the people they have known and worked with. Joining them with some classic Irish airs will be Midhat Serbagi, founder of Friends of Classical Music at Arts on the Lake.
In addition to having operated a legendary tavern in New York City, Malachy has written several other best-selling books and successful plays, including A Couple of Blaguards which he co-wrote with his late brother Frank, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir, Angelas Ashes.
Joining Malachy will be well-known actor Peter Gerety, who has, since 2003, directed or performed in hundreds of plays, TV shows and films including Charlie Wilsons War, Public Enemies, Blue Bloods, and Law and Order. In roles from Shakespeare to Sneaky Pete, Peter has shown himself to be exceptionally versatile. An accomplished poet as well as actor, Peter will talk about his career in the theatre and his friendship with Malachy.
