Scott Law
Multifaceted artist Scott Law is a master instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and performer operating at the very highest level of his craft. Hailed as an esteemed flat-picker by Acoustic Guitar magazine and regarded as a not-so-secret weapon for his distinctive ability to elevate the potency of any collaboration, Law is equally reverent and inventive on electric guitar, acoustic guitar and mandolin. A student and devoted fan of blues, jazz, bluegrass, country and rocknroll - Law is a bandleader and accompanist steeped in the songbook and improvisational style of The Grateful Dead. Laws rhythmic and melodic fluidity blends a root authenticity into a character known for reaching audiences in both roof-raising dynamic, and pin-drop sensitive performance settings. Since February 2014, Law has performed regularly with legendary bass player and founding member of the Grateful Dead, Phil Lesh in the rotating Phil Lesh & Friends cast and other lineups. Law continues a week-long monthly residency at Phil & familys Terrapin Crossroads venue in San Rafael, California. Law also fronts his own ensembles centered on original music and co-leads psychedelic-americana project, Scott Law & Ross James Cosmic Twang. Law has performed and collaborated with wide array of legendary and popular contemporary artists over the years, including Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead), Peter Rowan, Darol Angers Republic of Strings, The String Cheese Incident, The Travelin' McCourys, Melvin Seals, The Mother Hips, Tony Furtado, Nicki Bluhm, and many others.
