SOARING SPIRITS GALA BENEFIT CONCERT!
Our third Soaring Spirits Gala benefit concert features musicians Heather Keller of Beauty of the Harp and the Celtic Muse duo of Valerie K. Blessley and Jennifer Pratt-Walter. The beauty of the Celtic harps sublime warmth and natural grace, unforgettably amplified by the acoustics in All Saints Episcopal Church, will be further enhanced by the angelic voices of the Finnish kantele, sweet flute, violin and guitar. In Finnish folklore it is said that the kanteles beautiful music draws all the forest creatures near to wonder at its beauty. As contrasting strands of texture emerge from these ancient airs and ballads, our songstresses voices floating on the accompaniment, we will be as immersed in wonder and enchantment as surely as our ancestors.
The first half of the concert will focus on these plaintive, haunting melodies of the ancient pre-Christian epic poetry (The Kalevala) and Jewish Kabbalah music and story traditions. During the second half of the concert the musicians repertoire will transition to secular early traditional music and original musical compositions by these artists. Through these exquisite performances spirits will soar.
