Main Event: Berkeley Festival of Choro 2019: The Brass Edition, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church
The Festival
The sixth annual Berkeley Festival of Choro will present two special concerts this fall. October 12th and 13th.
The main event will be held at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley on October 12th at 7 pm, featuring Gileno Santana and Henrique Neto, trumpet and guitar duo, from Porto, Portugal. On trombone François de Lima from Rio de Janeiro, with Marcos Silva on piano and Brian Rice on percussion will be featured.
The Oakland Public Schools Brass Collective, directed by Zack Pitt-Smith, will open the program with arrangements of Brazilian Choro for brass ensemble.
On October 13th at 4 pm, the 3 guest artists will be featured in a concert at 142 Throckmorton, Mill Valley, in the Tivoli Room. They will be joined by Berkeley Festival of Choro directors Jane Lenoir, flute, and Brian Rice, percussion.
