"How Are You Going to Wet Your Whistle?" The Prohibition Years in Rockland and Bergen Counties
When: Wednesday, November 13, 11:00 am (Lunch served 12 noon) Where: Ramsey Country Club, 105 Lakeside Drive, Ramsey Price: $50 per person (cash bar)
The November 1919 song title says it all: "How Are You Going to Wet Your Whistle When the Whole Darn World Goes Dry?"
In November 1919, that is exactly what people in Rockland and Bergen Counties were wondering. The Prohibition Amendment had passed in January 1919 and would take effect in January 1920.
Join us for a fun luncheon and learn how people in our area solved that dilemma. Four panelists will share slides and stories -- and you might even learn the words to the song!
