TIMELESS TREASURES Mozart conducted the orchestra from the piano for the immediately successful Marriage of Figaro in 1786. By contrast, Schumann's brilliant Violin Concerto, composed in 1853, was not performed until eighty years later. And Mendelssohn took thirteen years to complete his Symphony #3 (1829-1842), an exciting and innovative work of timeless beauty.
