Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis October 13, 2019 Concert
Our October concert, "Toward a New World (Vision)!", connects us to the power of making music. We start with American composer Jonathan Newman's revelatory "Blow it up! Start Again!" and continue with Japanese composer Keiko Yamada's soft-spoken "Sunayama." For the final work, we feature Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World." Through this symphony, we experience how this great musician's work evaluated America and spun its music into a symphony form.
The alumni of our summer music camp, "Strings and Jazzy Things," join the Philharmonic on stage to perform's Reinhold Gliere's "Russian Sailors' Dance."
