Event
Julia Levitina and Cecilia Ferneborg
It will be international night at The Living Room with the return of singer-songwriter Julia Levitina and she'll share the night with singer-songwriter Cecilia Ferneborg.
About Julia Levitina: Born and raised in Odessa, Ukraine, but now calling Philadelphia her home, singer-songwriter Julia Levitina is bringing a global perspective to her unique brand of Americana. Subtly blending in Russian and French folk influences from her youth, her debut EP, "Take Your Time Loving Me," is a snapshot of an artist who has literally and figuratively crossed oceans and seas to pursue her dreams. The album, co-produced with acclaimed Philadelphia singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist John Faye, and cut primarily at Cambridge Sound Studio in South Philadelphia, is about finding courage to go the distance while on a quest for fulfillment and self-discovery. The subsequently released single, "Apricot Sky," recorded and engineered by another acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Cliff Hillis, continues in the vein of Levitina's oddball feel-good folk-rock tunes, this time drawing its inspiration from the story of the Wright Brothers.
Levitina's musical influences include chanson française and the likes of Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg and Francis Cabrel, as well as the great Russian bards, such as Vladimir Vysotsky and Aleksandr Dolsky. They find an unexpected home alongside her more current favorites, like Indigo Girls and Josh Ritter.
She has played the Tin Angel, World Cafe Live, The Grape Room, Bourbon & Branch and the Legendary Dobbs in Philadelphia; Coffee Works and Saxby's Coffeehouse in New Jersey; Burlap & Bean in Newtown Square and Chesapeake Arts Center in Baltimore, among others. She has also performed at assorted venues in France and Italy.
